Emma, 35, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Together with her husband, they travelled to Bangkok to seek Stem Cell Therapy in the hopes of stopping the advancement of the illness and bettering her quality of life.
Since receiving the Stem Cell Therapy at the cutting-edge facilities in Bangkok, Emma’s voice is now stronger and clearer than before she had the treatment. She also feels more rejuvenated after taking part in some of the therapies offered at the facilities.
ALS Patient Describes her Improvements following Stem Cell Treatment
What is Lou Gehrig’s disease?
Lou Gehrig’s disease is a specific disease that causes the death of neurons which control voluntary muscles. Some also use the term “motor neuron disease” for a group of conditions of which ALS is the most common. ALS is characterised by stiff muscles, muscle twitching, and gradually worsening weakness due to muscles decreasing in size. This results in difficulty in speaking, swallowing, and eventually breathing.
The cause is not known in 90% to 95% of cases. About 5–10% of cases are inherited from a person’s parents. About half of these genetic cases are due to one of two specific genes. The diagnosis is based on a person’s signs and symptoms with testing done to rule out other potential causes.
The disease attacks the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, and unfortunately, there is no known cure for it yet, however, doctors do have treatments and therapies that can slow down or ease symptoms of the illness.
A bit disappointed with the treatment options and doctors in the US, Emma and her husband are glad and thankful they picked Bangkok. The team who worked with them was very knowledgeable, upbeat and caring.
