ALS Patient Michael Returns for a Second Round of Stem Cell Treatment to Bangkok
In November 2015, 46-year-old Michael Romero was diagnosed with ALS and was given 2 years to live by, according to the doctors in the United States. The condition took its toll on Michael and his family as it forced him to stop working.
ALS is known for being incurable. But Michael and his family were not giving up hope. They sought out other treatment options abroad and through the good will and support of others, Romero was able to fund his first round of Treatment with Verita Neuro in Bangkok.
Now Michael has returned for a second round of Stem Cell Treatment to Bangkok. He is confident in the treatment’s effectiveness in slowing his condition and hopes that this round slows the disease even more.
Treatment Protocol
Michael’s treatment protocol was largely similar to what he experienced, eight months earlier. He noted that he had observed a slowdown in the rate of progression of his condition after his first treatment.
Regardless of the challenges in his life, Michael maintains a positive mindset, always remembering his family to give him strength.
I’ve been married for 22 years. I’ve got a 22-year-old daughter and a 19-year-old son. I don’t have grandkids yet. Ultimately, I would like to be able to play with my grandkids one day.”

Making the Right Decision
Michael believes in the importance of staying motivated in the face of trials.
Never give up. I’m not gonna lie. From time to time, I get frustrated. And as I lose the ability to do something else, those are times that I have to really motivate myself to get through it and I do. Because you got to. Laying around in bed, waiting to die is not life. I’m not putting my family through that. I’m going to fight the hardest I can. I may not win, but I’m gonna give it one hell of a fight.”
What is ALS?
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that progressively develops over time. It debilitates cells within the spinal cord and brain which are necessary for motor function. At present the disease has no cure, treatments are only for the alleviation of symptoms and discomfort as well as impeding the progression of the condition.
Early symptoms of the disease include cramps and twitching muscles, limb and joint weakness, as well as difficulty in speaking and/or swallowing.
The rate at which the disease progresses varies from case to case. Most patients survive for 2-5 years after the disease first manifests symptoms. Only 10% of diagnosed individuals survive for at least 10 years.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurological disease which impacts motor neurons that are involved in muscle movement throughout the body.
While there is no cure for the disease at present, medical science has progressed in terms of hindering the progress of ALS. Verita Neuro primarily employs Regenerative Treatments, otherwise known as Stem Cell Treatment in treating ALS.
In addition to Regenerative Treatments with Verita Neuro, ALS patients also undergo Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Sessions to help individuals cope with the progression of the disease in their bodies.
