A Patient Recovers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy Following Regenerative Treatment

Le Vuong Quoc Thang, 28, from Vietnam was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a range of diseases grouped together which affects the nervous system. The main symptom is muscle weakness and muscle loss. In severe cases, respiratory problems may occur. Muscles become weak making standing, walking, and controlling head movements difficult. In some cases, patients will find it hard to breathe and to swallow.

Thang got the disease when he was fifteen years old, when his parents noticed that he had weak body strength and sent him to hospital where they found out he was inflicted with SMA. Back in Vietnam, Thang received a wide-range of treatment, including Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, and applying Herbal Medicine, but the results were futile. His condition did not improve and even got worse after the treatment.

He came to learn about Regenerative Treatment in Bangkok and cell banking through a doctor who recommended him to get the treatment. After receiving the treatment, he felt stronger and better than ever before as his arms could move higher, his legs stronger, and he was able to move around easier. His balance and coordination also improved. His treatment was also paired with other three treatments including Oxygen Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Aquatic Therapy. Everyday, with the help of the staff, he regained his motor control with Physiotherapy. This helped improved his condition rapidly, physically and mentally, and made him much happier than before. This was his first Regenerative Treatment and he could feel the results right away.

It was the right decision to come here,” Thang said, “Facilities were very good and modern and also the staff was nice and took care of me very well. I felt like it was my home.”

Of course, Thang couldn’t get through this treatment alone without his family. His father even accompanied him and motivated him everyday. He assisted him in activities with Physiotherapy. His message to other patients was to keep up the motivation and try hard to get the opportunity to get a treatment and get better.
